Evaluating training needs for remote and hybrid workforces

14 May 2022

As remote working or hybrid work models become the norm, it is imperative that we evaluate training needs and think about which teams, set of individual contributors or leaders must receive training in the upcoming months.

Tailoring courses and their delivery is of upmost importance for training effectiveness as we continue to use the virtual medium for the foreseeable future. The more relevant the content, the more engaged the learning. With appropriate case studies, roleplays and use cases specific to their challenge areas, we must cater to the application of their learning and long-term retention of acquired knowledge.

One of the ways to capture insights from training needs is to run surveys with open-ended queries where employees can be honest about their learning experiences. It might be that a combination of virtual sessions and eLearning modules is best considering bandwidth of typical workdays and ease of self-paced learning.

When focusing on People Success, we must note that employee engagement has a significant impact on their opportunities to learn.

In fact, a Glint research has shown that, compared to their peers, employees who see good opportunities to learn and grow at their organization are:

  • 3.6 times more likely to report being happy;

  • 3.5 times more likely to report they believe their company can help them meet their career goals;

  • 2.9 times more likely to report they expect they’ll still be with the company in two years.

In short, an organisation’s Learning and Development and Employee Engagement strategies can have a powerful impact when working together. We at Athiya, are always looking to work with such organisations and cater to all learning needs that are pivotal to employee engagement at large.
